Man Sentenced To 366 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing Child

Luis Gilbert Sanchez of Victorville, California, was sentenced on Sept. 22 to 366 years and eight months in prison for what one prosecutor called “one of the worst cases” of child sexual abuse she had ever seen.
Sanchez, 32, was convicted on Aug. 24 on 29 charges, including oral copulation with a child 10 years of age or younger, sodomy of a child 10 or under, sex with a child 10 or under, lewd acts on a minor, and possession of child pornography, according to a news release cited by KTLA.
He allegedly abused a young girl over the course of two years. The victim was 5 years old when Sanchez began assaulting her in 2007, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Authorities said Sanchez abused the girl while her mother was away from home, and his actions were uncovered when the mother came home early one day and interrupted Sanchez’s assault on her daughter. It was at that point the victim admitted what had happened.
After hearing what happened, the mother took her daughter and the girl’s sister to her parents’ house, where she called the police. Sanchez fled the scene and lived out of his vehicle until authorities found him at his grandparents’ house. After he was arrested, Sanchez admitted to photographing and recording the sexual abuse and told investigators he liked “messy sex.”
“I’ve done a lot of terrible cases,” San Bernardino County prosecutor Kathy DiDonato told the L.A. Times. “This was one of the worst cases I’ve prosecuted. You can’t articulate [what] was seen in this case. It’s the most bizarre sexual conduct I’ve ever seen.”
Sanchez’s relationship to the victim has not been disclosed in a bid to protect her identity, KTLA reported.
“Thanks to the hard work of everybody involved in this case, we were able to secure justice for the victim,” DiDonato said in a news release, according to KTLA. “This defendant will never prey on another child.”
