University Students Completely Stumped By This Simple American Government Question

American University in Washington D.C. is proud to boast on their website that “keeping up-to-date with political affairs” is important to 73% of incoming freshmen to the private, liberal arts school.
The school also describes its students in the following way:
American University creates meaningful change in the world. With highly ranked schools and colleges and internationally recognized faculty, AU offers a balance between class time and career-advancing experience in Washington, D.C., and beyond. Its students, among the country’s most politically active, distinguish themselves for their service, leadership, and ability to rethink global and domestic challenges and opportunities.

With such “up-to-date” and “politically active” students on the American University campus, located in the heart of the nation’s capitol, surely overly simple questions regarding the basic operations of American government should be a breeze for them.
But the decline of American educational standards knows no bounds.
When asked to identify one US Senator, these university students were stumped.

From MRCTV:
This video didn’t sit well with the administrators at the school and they were pretty adamant about us not coming back there. But, the good news is that our video was featured on Fox & Friends later that week.

Watch the hilarious video below and let us know what you think:

  2. Dear American University administrators. This video will probably go viral, and be around for years, so you can't BS anymore about the high level of political awareness among your students. And students tend to parrot what they're taught, so what does this say about your curriculum? Thank you Dan Joseph and MRC; shame on you, American University.

  8. To be fair, why should they learn things that don't matter? These kids could know every single senator and congressman by heat. They could recite the Constitution backwards and forwards. None of that matters when the government is owned by big business. Apathy is a very reasonable responses to a system you have no say in.
