Former NYPD Cops Have A New Message for De Blasio And Once Again They’re Taking It To The Skies

Planes carrying banners aren’t just for advertising happy hours or for asking a lucky lady if she’d marry a very nervous young man. These aerial messages have been spotted over New York City for the past week, and their message has been anything but happy.
A group of former New York City Police Department officers, known as “Retired NYPD For A Safe New York,” has been sponsoring banners over the Big Apple. The messages are directed at one individual: Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The group has had three banners flown over the city since last Tuesday,The New York Daily News reports, and though they carry a different message each time, the gist is still the same: They want Mayor de Blasio out of office.
The latest, flown Tuesday, makes reference to de Blasio’s admission that he used marijuana in college: “DE BLASIO GET OFF THE POT. RESIGN. WE ❤ NYPD.”
The leader of the retired officers’ group says the mayor has lost the city and its protectors’ support and respect.
“The banner flying today across the Hudson River is our latest protest against the utter lack of respect that Mayor De Blasio evinces for the NYPD and is a follow up our two banners that flew last Tuesday,” Capt. Dave, who served on the force for 21 years, said.
The two previous banners read “NY SUPPORT NYPD. REST IN PEACE DETS LIU & RAMOS,” and “DE BLASIO YOU FAILED ALL NY’ERS. IT’S TIME. RESIGN.”
And it’s not just former officers who are expressing their feelings in the skies; The New York Daily News reports this is the fifth similar banner flown since December 26th.
